We all have our favourite influencers or inspiration pages but did you know that you don't need millions of followers to become an influencer? There are to 2 categories when it comes to being a social media influencer, Macro & Micro. Brands are actually shifting to working with more micro influencers in 2020 as they often have tighter niches and personalized engagement with their followers. We will give you a few tips to get your influencer game off the ground to capitalize on these trends.

First off research and figure out your niche, what market do you want to target or are experienced in, we recommend focusing on something you're passionate about  as creating content will become easier. Whether it be fashion, tech, food or other there are sub categories in each so make sure to take a deep dive to truly understand your direction.

Once you have figured out the direction and niche, content becomes your next heavy hitter task. Don't take this lightly as there is a checklist you need to ensure for each post, first the type of image, you need to make sure you find your style and theme to stay consistent with for your branding and posting. Over time your followers will know your style and recognize your posts easily. Next you want to ensure the message getting across is personalized or informative, you want to aim to create benefit and connect with your followers. Often making engaging conversation starter captions helps a lot. Going back to your branding little things like personalized highlight icons, going live connecting with your core followers will go a long way.

Okay great now you have your niche, you have a growing following and good content, what now? Well it's time to make money! You may or may not organically have brands reaching out to you for collaborations depending on your branding but you want to take it one step further. Creating yourself a pitch deck will increase your branding, trust and leave a lasting impression. In this pitch deck you include personal information about yourself that you think would help a brand understand you better, a blurb about you and additional stats and insights of your social platform. This level of transparency creates trust with a brand as well as lets them know what they are getting into increasing your chances for brand collaborations.

If you have gotten this far you're doing great! This is now the finish line, you know your target market and niche so now you can start reaching out to brands that align with your page. Email brands PR or marketing teams for collaborations with your pitch deck and at this point continue to do so with as many brands as you can who align with your page. You will eventually hit a bottleneck where you can't work every brand and now you are in the position to pick and choose who you want to work with to become a bit more exclusive. Now what are you waiting for, go out there and find some brands!
